Challenge
The original systems setup were extremely outdated and vulnerable, with little to no updates and had huge risks of leaking important customer data. The workflow made it so everything was out in the open in plain text with lack of admin and user controls.
My task was to secure and simplify systems, with updating systems, putting up proper firewalls and setting up user control - making everything smooth and seamless with little to no downtime.
Results
Post-Audit, Data was secure with proper protocols for any threats incoming, Monitored networks meant a decrease of attacks, small breaches and just human error. Conducting regular security audits meant the staff were much more aware about phishing and social engineering. Making sure all the updates and changes were logged and documented meant any changes could be upgraded, modified or reverted if needed with zero downtime.

Research & Analysis: Conducted Audits, sat down with staff, and analyzed network data to understand the vulnerable points and staff needs. Also researched new ideas and industry trends to gather more insight.
Information Architecture: Based on the research findings, restructured the way data and PII flows, rather than being available to everyone, it was put behind user controls that showed the staff only the information they needed to work.
Setting Up Changes: Change is hard, so it was worked with the staff to incorporate it in a fun and non obtrusive way - slowly but surely it paid off with proper and tested protocols in place.
Usability Testing: Conducted security drills, audits and social engineering tests to see how secure the system in place was and if the staff was more prepared and more aware on it.
Documentation & Guides: Throughout the process of securing the place, systems, and data, proper documentation was maintained that allowed upgrading, modifying and reverting any changes made, a handbook/playbook was also made to make sure the future of the company stays aware and safe.
